I think it’s possible as you say when leading authentically and in line with our values for them to align. There are also some connections to Simon Sinek’s work and his examples of Nelson Mandela and being an authentic leader. When he referred to being vulnerable and letting people in by waiting to speak last in meetings, hearing others’ voices first, asking questions, and then contributing last.
Two excellent resources for us to explore! I’ve been lucky to deep dive into Brené’s work before and found the ideas in the Edcast really thought-provoking. I’m particularly curious about the connection between ‘being your best self’ and emotional labour. At first glance, they seem to clash—but if we think of ‘best self’ as leading authentically and in alignment with our values, maybe they don’t? Keen to hear others’ thoughts on this.
I’m also going to check out the How We Feel app—has anyone used it?
