About

The EMERGING National Leadership Programme is designed for those starting out in their leadership journey, for instance, future leaders, team leaders & Kāhui Ako WSLs. They are education leaders who aspire to accelerate their career through growth in their personal leadership capabilities, as well as add value to their teams and colleagues within their school environment.

The programme is delivered through our online platform over a two term semester. Semester one will run from the end of February to the end of June, and Semester two from the middle of July, until the end of November. Participants explore their own strengths and how they relate to leadership goals and day-to-day realities within their individual school context.

A key component of the course is the highly interactive online forum which allows participants to share their journey with like-minded emerging educators across the country. This process is enhanced through participant-generated kōrero that unlocks the existing skills and experience within the group. Participants receive targeted, personalised feedback from their dedicated kaiārahi  and connect with peers and kaiārahi  for three robust online conversations.

Objective

Why have an Emerging Leaders Programme?

Growth Culture received feedback following the highly successful Aspiring Leaders Programme and the nationwide Team Leaders Toolbox PLD which uncovered a significant need for an emerging leadership programme that enables high potential education leaders to engage in an intensive, peer-oriented leadership development experience. The Emerging Leaders Programme is crafted for current leaders and up and coming leaders to provide career development pathway and grow their leadership capacity.

Whilst mostly emerging leaders consist of teachers in the first five years of their leadership development, the course is also open to any high performing teacher wanting to further develop their leadership capacity and fast-track their career progression.

NB: It is recommended that if your next step is Senior Leadership that you apply for the ASPIRING Leaders Programme. If your next step is Principalship and you are an Assistant/Deputy Principal we recommend you apply for our AOTEAROA AP/DP Programme.

The Emerging Leaders Programme is based upon a framework that focuses on the interpersonal, leadership and professional development of self and how this relates to their role within their school. In addition to enabling real outcomes for individual leaders, the Emerging Programme is recognised as a unique and innovative programme that contributes in a meaningful way to the realisation of equity in relation to formal educational leadership.
