About the Course

LITERACY-FIT is a research-based, innovative look at best-practice teaching, as well as emergent pedagogy that is proven to actually work in supporting and improving student [particularly boys] engagement and achievement in Literacy.

Grounded in recent international research, including research from the McGill Centre for Research in Neuroscience, you will come away equipped with:

  • Teaching techniques to improve learners’ engagement and achievement.
  • Innovative tools to ignite and empower learners’ reading and writing.
  • Understanding ways to teach and support neurodiverse learners.
  • Research-based learning theories to support your mahi, working with individuals and small groups of readers/writers.
  • Strategies and practical take-aways to immediately implement.

The online program includes a variety of content from our keynote speakers and includes a downloadable copy of the presentation slides. There are also a series of “COFFEE & KORERO” events around NZ that online delegates can attend, to connect with one of our facilitators. The dates and times for these events are sent out when you sign up for the program.

A graduating Literacy-FIT certificate will be issued to participants following completion of course.

We look forward to equipping you as a Literacy-FIT Teacher Aide!
