  1. I found the book “FISH!” easy to make connections with. Being more aware of how our choices impact others. Realising that our decision can influence other people’s well being, opportunities and overall quality of life. To be able to foster empathetic, thoughtful interactions enhances meaningful relationships. The four steps outlined are simple but impactful. I am lucky enough to be working in a team and a school where this mostly happens and it makes going to work each day that much easier. I will integrate this thinking into my year 8 class as I think it could have quite an awareness around it.

  2. I questioned why such an old book was part of this course required readings, however it was a simple but crucial message. This book helped me to see how one person’s attitude can spark a change of culture in a workplace with a few vital changes. It was a joy to read and I can definitely see application across schools and businesses alike. Quick and easy I would highly recommend!

  3. I found the book “Fish'” an easy and enjoyable read but one with important and valuable messages for leadership and school culture. This book highlighted the importance of leaders creating and fostering a stimulating and positive work enviroment and one that encourages collaboration and engagement.

  4. I found the book ‘Fish’ encourages us as leaders to foster a positive work environment by embracing creativity, collaboration, and a sense of purpose. it emphasizes the importance to create a culture of engagement, passion, success and places a huge emphasis of choosing one’s attitude, being present, and finding joy in the mahi, we do not enjoy doing so much.
It is a reminder that a positive attitude and a focus on enjoyment can transform our kura into a vibrant place to work. Some days it is hard to do, however with a positive mindset we too can be laughing, engaging and being joyful at kura.
